Administration – Planning

Planning in visual communications companies is both the organizational process of creating and maintaining a plan and the psychological process of thinking about the activities required to create a desired goal on some scale. Planning focuses on what the future will look like, and it has a relationship with forecasting, whose task is to anticipate trends, market fluctuation what the future will be.

Administration – Management

Management in all business and organizational activities is the act of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives using available resources efficiently and effectively. Management comprises planning, organizing, staffing, leading or directing, and controlling an organization (a group of one or more people or entities) or effort for the purpose of accomplishing a goal. There are several levels of management, which may include President, Vice President and Director.

General administration may include a whole range of positions, including Administrative Assistant, Manager and Supervisor. The job descriptions for each will vary depending on the business type (ad agency, PR firm, creative group, printing or full service).

Finance

The Finance Department will manage the company’s funds and related functions, including bookkeeping, company-wide budgeting process, asset management and, sometimes, planning. The field of finance deals with the concepts of time, money, risk and how they are interrelated. It also deals with how money is spent and budgeted. Similar to administrative management, human resources include a wide range of positions.

Human Resources

The HR team is charged with the overall responsibility for implementing strategies and policies relating to the management of company personnel. Human resource management ensures effective practices within an organization and a strategic focus on helping personnel achieve organizational goals. Effective human resource management also contains an element of risk management for an organization which, as a minimum, ensures legislative compliance. Similar to administrative management, human resources include a wide range of positions.
